From the process of discovery
the attorney collects hundreds of statements by multiple witnesses
about numerous issues. The attorney must now compare and contrast
all of this testimony for trial.
The summary of Integrated Deposition Testimony
is a tool to collect all of the witness' testimony about the various
issues. For example, the testimony might be organized by the topic
of tissue type, organ, procedure, standards of care, opinions,
etc. All statements related to a specific topic would be grouped
together allowing for comparison of the witness' testimony.
Author Thomas A. Moore stated in Evidence in Negligence
Cases, that MRRS abstracts and, "...collects the testimony
of the various witnesses on... [each] subject... [and] divides
the testimony by subject... The integrated abstract, therefore,
consolidates hundreds of pages of testimony into a form for quick
reference by limiting the content of the abstract to those statements
that illustrate and compare the witnesses' opinions on the issues."¹
