History of MRRS, Inc.

Founded in 1992, Medical Records Review Service, Inc. (MRRS) was formed to provide comprehensive, professional support services to personal injury and medical malpractice attorneys.

Theresa Thoman, one of the founders of MRRS, recognized a void in the availability of medical resources for attorneys that was not completely and economically filled by in-house staff or by outside expert witnesses. MRRS's founders drew on their experience in law and medicine to provide services previously unavailable from a single source.

MRRS has built an extensive medical library, become adept at electronic research and brought in other professionals to enhance its services. Medical malpractice and personal injury cases are often complex, requiring analysis of voluminous medical records and technical issues. MRRS translates the highly technical medical information into understandable concepts and provides background documentation on key points and Standards of Care. MRRS maintains its own reference library and performs medical research internally and electronically.

In 1999, the common values of integrity and top-quality service facilitated the merger of LML Medical-Legal Consulting, founded by Lorna Morelli-Loftin, RN, LNCC, and MRRS. The merger allowed both companies to expand and focus their services to promote continued growth.

MRRS currently provides support service to both plaintiff and defense attorneys in 19 states. Their work is included in two texts by New York attorney, Thomas A. Moore, Evidence in Negligence Cases and Medical Malpractice: Discovery and Trial. Theresa Thoman and Lorna Morelli-Loftin are frequent speakers on medical-legal issues across the country.
